Health Net : 1.5 million records

Security breach may have affected 1.5 million patient records

  • California based Health Net
  • Lost an external hard drive six months ago that was not encrypted
  • Patient records from multiple states include New York, Connecticut, Arizona and New Jersey.
  • Attorney General is investigating, including the time it took to report the incident
  • Free credit monitoring for two years will be offered to those effected

10,000 providers' social security numbers may have been on a stolen laptop from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Free credit monitoring is being offered.

CD with patient info goes missing

Data on 68,000 members may have been compromised at CalOptima. Patient data was on a set of unencrypted CDs that were lost in the mail. They plan to offer credit monitoring for those effected....It's not just the loss of patient information that gets healthcare organizations in the news, it can also be employee information.
